Battle of Plassey
Britain already had a company in India. It was called the East India Company. The East India Company was a trading company with the East Indies and Southeastern Asia, mainly for spices, tea, and other imports of the sort. The East India Company took control of India at the Battle of Plassey, on June 23, 1757. It was a bloody battle, and though India fought hard, they could not resist the power of the British. Now that the control was in Britain's hands they had needed worker for the factories. Many of the natives were offered to chance of a better life style by working at the looms in the East India Company. Many natives took the opportunity and gave up waking up early everyday to go fishing so that they could feed there families, when many times coming home empty handed. The natives who weren't working in the factories were probably building railroads, working in the healthcare company, and other jobs given to them by the British. It was a pretty good life for the natives. This went on for about twenty years, and when the twenty years were up, India gained their independence. They gained their independence, not violently, but peacefully. Britain handed the power back into India's hands. Although this sounds great, India now has to keep the fuel going.
